Lake Macquarie City Council

Flexible, innovative and collaborative.

Location: Lake Macquarie City | Size: 6,000m²

Lake Macquarie City Council, a local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, recently redeveloped their existing Administration Building, housing 600+ staff, to support high workforce productivity with modern workplace amenities.

As part of the organisation’s vision and commitment to becoming more flexible, innovative and collaborative, Lake Mac reconfigured and refit its workspaces across all three levels with the help of EJE Architecture, Built construction and the Aspect team in Sydney.

After extensive feedback from staff and management to ensure the design meets the needs of the users, individual offices were removed to create collaborative open-plan working areas with electric sit-to-stand workpoints that are available to all staff.

Each floor offers a variety of meeting rooms and collaboration spaces, supported by technology to enable flexibility at work and in the community.

Aspect’s Zurich 5 workpoints were selected for the open-plan working areas, complemented by monitor arms and WorkTotes to facilitate an agile, ergonomic working environment.

The Italian-designed Calligaris range features across the break-out and collaborative areas, with the stylish Coco chair making a statement next to Umi sofas. Academy chairs with a range of bases serve as meeting and café chairs.

The resulting fit-out is a high-quality, fit-for-purpose facility that has been future-proofed with a range of flexible furniture solutions.
