An inspired tribute to a bygone era.

Location: Melbourne | Size: 5,300m²

V/Line is a government-owned corporation that has provided public transport services to regional Victoria for over 30 years. Operating regional passenger train and coach services, V/Line’s mission is to connect Victoria by empowering their own people to be their best.

To this end, V/Line have recently moved into newly refurbished offices at 425 Flinders Street that feature highly customised, collaborative working and break-out areas across two dedicated levels. Aspect were tasked with providing customised furniture solutions for these collaborative and connected spaces.

Cox Architecture took inspiration from the traditional features of historical train carriages, and paid homage to these designs of the past by incorporating features such as hanging rails and leather straps into the space.

These bespoke details are complemented by a selection of fabrics and finishes that evoke an atmosphere of trains and platforms in a bygone era, while blending perfectly into the modern workspace setting.

Our Melbourne team worked closely with Cox Architecture to achieve the desired outcome, adjusting and adapting Aspect’s Hive and Thynk seating configurations to suit the dimensions and enhance the feel of the space. Harbour panels were employed around meeting booth settings to create privacy in open-plan areas and mid-century style Liberty café chairs from Calligaris completed the look.
