Trees that count.

Working towards a sustainable New Zealand for future generations to enjoy.

Over the last year, Aspect have had ongoing involvement with Trees That Count, a conservation initiative bringing businesses and communities together to help kiwis plant more native trees across Aotearoa.

Trees that Count enable businesses to contribute to a greener New Zealand. Companies can gift or fund native trees and the team over at Trees that Count will match them with planting groups who get the natives into the ground.

Native trees play a vital role in our biodiversity and bring a range of environmental, cultural and health benefits.

  • They help to reduce the effects of climate change by improving our air quality, absorbing carbon dioxide and emitting oxygen back into the atmosphere

  • When planted alongside river banks and in coastal areas, Native trees can help prevent sediment and pollutants from flowing into water streams, keeping our ocean and waterways clean and protecting the health of our ecosystems

  • They enhance our mental wellbeing, reducing stress and encouraging people to slow down and feel connected to their surroundings

  • They are culturally significant and sacred to our land – symbols such as the Silver Fern and Koru are engrained in our national identity

To date, Aspect have funded 1000 trees, which will help to remove 228 tonnes of carbon from the earth's atmosphere.

Our donated trees have been allocated to Ridgecliff, a family-owned seventh-generation hill country farm overlooking the Pacific Ocean on Banks Peninsula. We couldn’t have asked for a better match – the Craw family care deeply for our environment and share our aspiration for seeing more indigenous trees grow across New Zealand. Their passion for identifying, protecting and enhancing native biodiversity is paving the way for a more sustainable Aotearoa and it brings us joy to be able to support them in their journey.
